WARNING: OVERSEAS APPLICANTS PLEASE BEWARE OF AL AIN UNIVERSITY, AL AIN UAE - if you have dependents especially - contracts and benefits ( tickets & furniture allowances) not honoured - 8 of 11 (qualified & experienced) native speaking teachers' 4yr contracts terminated for false reasons; students allowed by admin to 'pass' without attending class; no line management, coordination, or time in lieu for curriculum development; no Eng reading matierials in library for students; 25% increase in teaching hrs of ELT's after signing contract; failure to pay promised salary amounts; increased hiring of middle eastern staff from poor countries with lesser quals etc, desperate for visas, who would settle for very low salary to get wk visa; failure to provide visas for months if at all to many staff; failure to pay hourly paid teachers for 7 months.
The list goes on.
The ELTs = nice people; coordinator = onside but powerless re above. AAU to be avoided - in short, DON'T GO THERE! IT'S A RACKET/COWBOY JOINT/FRONT. (not sure what for though). Welcome to the UAE. Have a nice day (smile). |

Could you please give us more details?
For example: Web site for Al-Ain Uni, salary for qualified English teachers, perks, and the list goes on!
Also, you mentioned East European teachers???? What countries? Do they have western education? More details!
Thanks for the info! |

I think this is probably the Al Ain University (College?) of Science and Technology - not the Al Ain branch of Abu Dhabi Uni.
It's the one that opened this academic year, and I've heard it's even worse than ADU.
It'd be interesting if the OP could come back and confirm or clarify this, and also give some more details, as Lionbrian and VS suggest. |
