Well, I can watch Seinfeld from 10 years ago, every night of the week. Does that count? Wink

Sadly, no. Unless you've never seen them before.

Speaking of TV, I imagine what's available depends a lot on where in Mexico you are.

In the city where I live, if you can afford cable or satellite TV -- which most EFL teachers can't -- it's possible to have HBO, Showtime, Discovery Channel, ABC, NBC, CBS (all in English,) and the list goes on and on.

As for "regular" channels, there are 3 available here, none in English. One can watch Mexican soap operas at almost any time of the day or night, a couple of talk shows Mexican style (heading in the direction of American talk shows Sad ,) locally produced shows that are pretty pathetic, old Mexican movie classics once in a while, Mexican news, futbol, and the same dozen or so American horror and/or violence movies dubbed into Spanish which are shown over and over for months on end. Old reruns of The Nanny, Friends, and The Simpsons dubbed into Spanish are on almost every night.

Granted, I'm no expert on Mexican TV. If I watch TV a total of 2 hours a week, that's a lot for me. Talk about a lifestyle change, when I lived in the States, whenever I was in the house and awake -- and often when I was asleep Embarassed -- my TV was on.

MY senior year of college I gave away my tv and it was the best year of my life. Since then I've been glued to it. I don't watch the network shows. I've never seen a full episode of Friends or ER or The Practice or West Wing... It's the cable shows that get me. Monster House, Trading Spaces, Faking It. Faking It (BBC version) is the best show on earth.

In faking it they take a person and give him four weeks to "train" to be something. Something he's never done before. Like a bouncer or a painter. Then at the end of four weeks he has to go in front of a group of experts and "fake it." To see if the experts can tell if he's a fraud.

I can't wait to start my 4 week TEFL course.

I watched "Faking It" around the time I did my CELTA course. There are a lot of similarities. By it's one thing to fake it for a few judges (i.e. trainers) and another to do it for real. In some ways, the fakers actually had it easy: they didn't have to put up with middle management!

My favourite was the punk singer who faked being a conductor. Smile
