Are musical instruments and related stuff (like music stands) sold in Riyadh at reasonable prices?

Are there places to develop film or websites within Saudi to send digital pictures to to have them developed?

Thanks. Titanicman

Loads of photography shops - which sell equipment and develop film and digital. Can't say they know a great deal about photography, but they get the job done (this is Jeddah by the way).

As for musical instruments - I expect so - a teacher here bought a guitar a couple of weeks ago.

I must say I've never seen any shops selling musical instruments here in Riyadh. According to the Saudi interpretation of Islam, music is 'haram' so that may explain the scarcity of such places. There are record shops but women often aren't allowed in! I'm not saying they don't exist but don't expect much of a variety.

While it is true that the more zealous Wahabis condemn all music as forbidden, you will come across music everywhere in Saudi. Smoking is forbideen too but cigarettes are universally available, unless you are in the fundamentalist heartland around Qassim.

There are shops selling musical instruments. I am not sure about the prices though.

We bought a piano for our daughyter in Jeddah and she began her musical career there with piano lessons.

Here in Jeddah I have walked by a couple of music shops. I never really looked in. Electronic pianos, saxophones, drum sets, guitars.

Maybe it's a Riyadh thing then. I don't recall ever having seen a music shop here.
