Yello,
Does anybody know whether there are any opportunities for short term work (1-3 months) in Vietnam.
Similar stuff to summer/winter camps or the Westgate scheme in Japan.
Many thanks.

I had a twelve week contract May to August 2006 at Apollo in Hanoi. I believe they will be doing this again 2007 and I'm interested in going again if I'm not otherwise engaged at that time.
Pay was not so wonderful but the nine teachers had hotel accommodation supplied as part of the deal. Personally I loved the staff and ambience of my hotel in the middle of the old quarter - even hired a motor scooter to hoot around Hanoi!
Look for the eslcafe posts early 2007 would be my suggestion.

Heya,
Redroof makes a good recommendation about Apollo. I was out there this summer at Apollo as a cover teacher and the deal for summer teachers seems to be quite good.
Next year I have also heard they are hoping to place teachers in appartments rather than hotel rooms which should be a bit nicer. As far as I know, the contract for 2007 runs from May 28th to August 12th, not too sure if thats exactly right but around those times.
Language Link is also worth considering as they run summer programmes for around 12 weeks, and have a good resputation. Cleverlearn do the same but I have heard better things about language link.
To be honest I am fairly sure most of Hanoi's language centres offer summer placements for teachers as that is when demand is highest.
I will certainly be considering it also myself for this summer.
Check out newhanoian.com, its not a great website but its list most of Hanoi's language centres.
Hope that helps |
