I just moved down from Piura to Lima two months ago. Is anyone here on the board currently in Lima?

Hi Naturegirl,

Was just in Lima for a couple of days. How are you liking it? Is it too much to ask what area you are living in and your impressions thus far of the school you are teaching for?

I like it. Been here two months, It's freezing here still. About 13 degrees in the morning and at night. I lived in Surquillo, which I wouldn't recommend and now am in San Borja, which is much nicer.

My school, like every school is good and bad. Great pay and benefits, though organisation leaves a lot to be desired, also the kids act very immature and are used to being spoonfed. However, their English is wonderful.

By the way, if you're looking for a job next year, my school is hiring. Pm me and I'll send you the details.

Thanks, doesnt sound all bad. Im sure with your level of experience you can make it work for you. Heard Surquillo was a decent district. If you are like me, you were likely looking for a good neighborhood not named Miraflores or San Isidro with the gringo inflated prices.

Good luck and keep us posted on how you are getting along. I know you have been through a lot in the last couple of months.

Actually if you look around you can find places with decent prices. We almost moved to Miraflores, found a nice place for 150 dollars a month, but things fell through at the last minute.

If you're ever in Lima and would like to grab a coffee, let me know.

Cafe con leche sounds wonderful! Was told that the coffee here was going to be quite strong for my sensitive gringo sensibilities but I am quite impressed. Should be coming through Lima in a couple of months hopefully.
