Hello, I am going to Taiwan to teach for a year and after I am hoping to get a WHV as I am an Italian and British citizen and will be entitled to one. I was wondering, I have a degree in TESOL and a CELTA, plus, I will have a years experience. Will my qualifations be enough to work in Sydney and is it possible to get work year round or is the sit like that in UK when its mostly seasonal?
Thanks |

vallillo1983, I'm not sure what your degree is (TESOL?) but I think you'd stand a good chance of getting work in a language school. Lots of these in the CBD employing backpacker types etc.
Check out ACL in Sydney. They've employed travellers on WHVs before. Google their website.
For Italian food, I'd recommend you head down to Melbourne. Nothing much good in Sydders. If you get a taste for Taiwanese food there are a few good places in Sydney. You can get some damn fine dumplings.
But first things first - you've gotta get a job before you can eat. |

How difficult is it for non-Aussie/UK citizens to get jobs in Sydney (or the rest of Australia for that matter)? We're Americans, and we've heard about great opportunites in different parts of Australia, particularly in Cairns, but the posts I've read on this forum have led me to believe that it's next to impossible for us to actually secure a job there -- thoughts? |
