Hi guys, a couple of questions if anyone wouldn't mind!!
1)Does anyone know what my chances are for getting a yearly work visa? I have BA, MA, CELTA + 4 years expereince. But i'm outside of Brazil.
2) Like everyone i would hope to get a yearly work visa but i was just wondering what English teachers in Brazil do when their time in Brazil is up. If youhave worked for the 6 months and have to leave do you go home or move to a neigbouring country and work etc?
Many thanks, |

I have actually spoken to an American who is currently teaching English in Brazil. She has a work visa. She works at a bi-national school. If you search for this type of school in Brazil, they often offer two year contracts with a work visa. You have to have a teaching degree and be able to teach in the United States. I have checked into some schools, if you want specifics let me know.

Hello there,
I had many struggles trying to initially find work here. Language schools wouldn't accept me because they don't give out work visas, costs too much for them and the beaurocracy is horrible to get around.
However, I work for 2 service companies, which contract out foreign teachers to teach business executives withing a variety of companies here in Rio. The pay is twice the amount and they don't mind if you're legal or not. If you stay beyond 6 months and then eventually leave the country, you will have to pay a fine. But I believe there is a cap on it, like around $400. What I don't know is if you can come back into the country or not.
If you come down south, check out New Start and Little England. Great companies and good pay for here.
Good luck! Brasos! Tchau! |

Go to another country for a week and get another tourist visa to get back in...at least that's what I've heard from other people at gringoes.com forums. |

How do you find these service companies? I'm heading to Rio in July in hopes of finding my first esl job and I'm not sure where to start. |
