so whats the deal with English teaching opportunities in Montreal? Ive heard mixed stories. some have said that the market is generally dry compared to Toronto and Vancouver and that it can take a long period of searching to find a reliable English teaching job. But then ive also heard that it doesnt take that long to find work in Montreal and that some of the language schools are very good and take great care of their teachers.
is it too high of an expectation to hope for the following in an English teaching job in Montreal?
- full-time permanent
- at least $15-$20 an hour
- benefits
- small classes
- etc
what are the ideal educational qualifications for most schools in Montreal? university degree + TESOL or CELTA certificate? I dont imagine the Montreal teaching market is as open as that of Asia, where a university degree is the ticket to you getting the job. |
