What is the success rate of getting a job at the fair. Which colleges or companies normally recruit. Can you get an offer on the spot? Does anyone have any good tips? Thanks in advance |

My tip would go if you can... interview... network... it won't be a complete waste, but walking away with a job depends on your credentials and how well you interview... as usual.
I know people who got zero offers and people who got multiple offers...

I've gotten multiple offers both times that I've attended.
Be ready for these:
How have you used technology in the classroom?
What computer programs have you used in the classroom?
How comfortable are you with educational technology?
etc.
The correct answer begins with PowerPoint and ends somewhere out in Never-Never Land. Don't bother talking about word processing, because that's not flash-bang enough. Don't get technical or you'll scare the interviewers. Blackboard and FirstClass will make points. Always mention brand names, because that's what they understand. |

"Blackboard? Oh, yes, I used Blackboard every day at the University of Kucamonga. I'd love to give a workshop and teach my colleagues how to use it."

I have only been once but had several offers made on the spot.
Tips? Bring lots of copies of your CV and also have a photo attached as that'll make it stand out.
Regardless of getting offers or not, as VS said it's a good place to network and find out about other places.
Good luck |

Hi,
Just recently joined the Forum, but have been a an ESL teacher in France and Mexico for several years. Thinking of a move to the Middle East doing either ESL or teaching in a private int'l school.
Would recruiter's at Arabia TESOl consider me without a CELTA, or other ESL qualification?
Thanks! |

No ... I'm afraid only experienced guns are hired at the job fair ... your pea shooter wouldn't impress ... |

Apart from TESOL Arabia 2007, are there any other conferences that have recruitment fairs in the UAE?
Thanks in advance |

I don't know of any other job fairs. If you google "universities and schools in the UAE" or something like that you can get a list of all the places here and their websites, and then go to them directly to apply. |
