| I'm thinking of teaching in Thailand very soon, from the USA. Im nearly done with my TEFL certification and then my plan is to go over. I am starting to get really nervous about the whole thing. I have been out of the country before, and traveled to countries where English is not the language, however I have never done so alone. I am getting worried about the basics like transportation, accommodation, and the best city to pick. Can anyone help me out? |

Having lived many places in Asia, Thailand has to be one of the safest on the planet. There is nothing to be afraid of. Just dive in and if its not your thing then get out. Just make sure you bring enough money for that return plane ticket if things don't work out. |

| Thailand is no 'soft landing'. No one is around to help sort out anything. You will have to figure out most things from housing to visas yourself. I suggest you stay in the bigger cities for a while until you get an understanding for the way things work. |

| I'd say you'd ok in most cities, just don't find a local girl to be your guide. Be independent. Spend a few days when you arrive just getting your bearings. |
