Hi,
What's your opinion about Asian teaching English in Germany? Of course, with a degree and a CELTA cert. How much is the usual pay?
You opinion is greatly appreciated. |

Teejay, do you have a legal right to work in Germany? It's usually limited to citizens of EU member states. If you're not sure, you could check on the German Embassy website for your country.
Germany is currently very tight in terms of sticking to the law on hiring EU citizens as English teachers.
Further, the economy is in a rocky period and the job market's also generally tight - there aren't a lot of jobs, and pay in Europe generally is just enough to get by on all right. You can expect to make enough to pay rent, eat, eat out, travel around the country a bit, but not to save or buy a car or house.....
That's the situation in Europe in general, unless you have more serious qualifications and experience. |

The fact is that Germany has a huge pool of Germans who have native-speaker competence in English and other foreign languages. |

Not to mention that UK member citizens can be hired with an absolute minimum of hassle. |

Thanks so much for you opinion. I have a friend who wants to take the CELTA course in Germany and I was thinking that I should go with him. And based from your answers, I realize that I should not push through with it. I am actually confused right now where to take the CELTA course. I'm considering the expenses , accessibility and the chance of working in the country where I'll take the course. Again, thanks... |
