1...I'm looking for a permanet, full-time teaching job around Toronto. How can I contact LINC schools to apply for a job? Does the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) hire ESL teachers? How permanent are LINC or TDSB jobs? Are these permanent enough to settle down near the schools for years to come?

What's the difference between teaching credit and non-credit ESL courses? Are there any credit ESL courses out there?

I've completed a MA in TESOL and am contemplating whether to
(1) continue teaching ESL or (2) do a B.Ed and get a public school job. I don't have much experience teaching teenagers What's the difference between teaching in an ESL program and teaching as a regular public school teacher? Has anyone done both? Please tell me your experiences!

2...Are there any bookstores in Toronto that sell ESL books (e.g., Raymond Murphy Essential Grammar In Use)?

Thanks. Titanicman

I believe that any work for the TDSB requires teacher's college. I'm not sure about LINC. Last I heard there were several ESL programs. Try calling 416-338-4000. Work on the street has it that there are a lot of public school teachers who are about to retire so there will probably be jobs around (anyway when you do teacher's college you get to choose two subjects).

I don't think "credit" courses in ESL exist in Canada since to enter any university you need to already be fluent in English.

I will be back in the Big Smoke soon so let me know how it goes and maybe we can hook up to swap stories.

Good luck,

Corey
