Very Happy Updating my post on May !st re. job searching from home (UK) versus a visit to the desired country of work (close-up):
at the risk of a smidgen of smugness: the close-up approach seems to of paid off, with several interviews and job offers to consider. Modena, Bologna, Verona, Milan etc. My pre-term break-up visit targeted the schools wanting to get next year's teacher intake sorted asap. If it all goes through, it will have been worth while in my opinion. Good luck to others out there.

I was in the same kind of predicament, and though I would have gone with the close up approach if the remote approach had failed I actually got a fantastic response just by sending out speculative applications. A lot of schools are recruiting now. Some interview in London and some over the phone. I'm sure there's a lot to be said for going and checking things out. All the same I feel justified in joining you in your smugness Smile
