Hi there,

I was just wondering if anyone could offer advice on the chances of finding work in Prague in late January/early February. I'll have a four week TEFL certification and a bachelor's in English, but no previous teaching experience. (I know going earlier in the month would be better, but I won't be able to because of other commitments.) Also, do most contracts end in summer no matter what time of year you are hired? Thanks for the input!

Most contracts are Sept - June. There's little work available in summer, because people are on holiday.
There are always new positions in January, as some teachers don't return from their winter holidays, but, you're right, February is a bit late to be job hunting. You will probably be able to find something, but expect to be pounding the pavements and taking the schedules others don't want.

The good news is that you can be on hand to get a good contract in September, if you wish.

Hi Mandolin!

Yep - work is available any time of the year except, as Spiral wrote, in August.
It is possible to find summer camp work in August (teaching English to teenagers in the countryside), but we always recommend teachers take the month of August off and fit in some quality traveling or family time.

All the best!

Thanks for your responses! It's really helpful to have input from those "in the know" when trying to plan from so far away. Cheers.
