Folks: I am to start a Japanese course for beginners in Fukuoka at the Genki Jacs school in December for 3 weeks, 4 hours per day. Have any of you studied there, and were you satisfied with the homestay options, and how much did you learn at a Japanese school in 3 weeks or so?

Any hidden surprises I should be aware of?

I was told to learn the hiragana characters before starting the course.
