Seems that cheap carrier Easyjet has started direct flights from London to Bucharest recently.

The effects of this won't be felt yet in the low tourist season but if Riga's experience is anything to go by it's very bad news for anyone teaching in Bucharest. In Riga the cheap carriers have led to an influx of idiots whose idea of a good time is strip clubs, hassling local women, drinking 14 hours a day then vomiting in the streets or urinating on the national monuments. In Riga, it's led to a bit of a backlash as anyone speaking English runs the risk of being tarred as a sex tourist and it's also radically pushed prices up as local businesses set prices for tourists rather than locals. I sincerely hope that it doesn't have such negative effects in Ro!
