I am a newly qualified teacher living in London. I am also a British citizen. My attempts to get a job here have (predictably) been met with "you need experience". I understand that I would find more work abroad, but that is not an option just yet.
I have realised that there is alot more TEFL teachers in this city than jobs, and to stand a better chance of getting a job in the summer, I need experience.
The upshot of this is that I am considering doing private tuition in some form.
What I would like to know is whether anyone can offer advice on premises to use (my house is an option but somewhere neutral would be better), cheap places to purchase books and materials, and where is a good place to advertise.
Lastly, if any other unemployed London teachers want to swap ideas, and perhaps even co-operate on something, I am open to suggestions.
