Hey, I went through footprints recruiting, and got the interview in Febuary.

I passed the interview for SNET and am in the HK EDB.

I have all the qualifications and am in category 2
I have a BA
with a BA Teaching Degree for English
I also have 1 year teaching experience in China.

Does anyone know how long it will take until I am contacted by a school for an interview?

Is there anyone who has went through the EDB, and got a job offer through them, and when did you get your offer?

Should i wait until i get contacted, or should i contact the schools myself?

Thanks

It took me twenty-two months!

In all honesty, you are placed on a list and that's it. Start sending CVs out to schools in the areas that you want. Be advised that there are only a few dozen vacancies these days. The days of hundreds per intake are long gone. Sad

I'm not sure what you mean when you say 'in the EDB'? Although you have passed the EDB interview, you'll still need to pass the one for the school that contacts you.

I've been a NET for seven years and each year it gets harder to break into and the list of potential NETs gets longer and longer. Last year, I think there were fewer than three dozen vacancies, many of which were filled by local candidates. I wouldn't be making plans just yet. Certainly, start sending your CV to schools that might interest you, but just be ready for a long wait. Sadly, I know some who have waited for more than three years and still haven't been contacted for an interview by a school!

Good luck!

Just wondering if anyone has received feedback about their application? I passed the EDB interview and it's been about 5 weeks since I sent my qualifications out to be assessed.

It's still early. I'd say another month maybe.

My wife, who is a NET, was first contacted and interviewed by her school in late July (1999).

Just got my email saying I'm in the central pool as well.

Does anyone know the latest start dates for hiring this year? I have an offer to teach at a pre sessional that finishes on the 5th September, but I'm unsure about commiting to it if all the net start dates are mid August.

NET contracts begin August 16th. School starts September 1st. It would probably hurt your chances if you told them you were not available until September 6th. Schools will also want you there in August to prep and get used to the school before your duties begin. It's also in your best interest to do so.

That's what I was afraid of. I guess it's best to look for something more temporary until then!
