Hello all.
I've got a question I'm hoping you can help me with. Here's the situation:
I'm considering moving with my wife to Australia in the near future. I'm Canadian, 32 and have 5 years of full time experience teaching EFL in Brazil, mainly teaching for exams (the Cambridge ESOL Suite and IELTS) along with general English (CEF A1-C2). My wife will be studying at university and I will be able to work legally. Regarding qualifications, I have a bachelor's in Latin and Greek and have completed a third of a Masters in Applied Linguistics. I am well versed in theory and am experienced in the classroom, although I don't have a CELTA, DELTA or Masters.
So my question is this: assuming I am in a major urban center, like Sydney, Adelaide, Perth etc and that I am willing to work all hours, even at second rate schools or with privates, can I make 1000 Aussie dollars a week? What could I expect to make a week assuming I go all out and work as hard as I can? I'm just worried about basic survival in the first 6 months I am there.
Thanks! |
