Hi there,

Quick question for anyone who may be able to help me- can I enter Peru without a return ticket? I am flying in and haven't yet purchased my ticket out (as I don't know when I'll be leaving). I will be entering on a tourist visa, and I think I will tell them that I will be touring around the country and then leaving by bus. Do you think this will be ok? should I quickly buy a ticket leaving Peru before I enter? If I do, are they easily refundable?

Thanks,

J

Sometimes y make you buy a return ticket at the airport, If you do, you can always refund it.

Immigrations in Peru is a breeze.

OK- FYI- Air Canada wouldnt let me on the flight without a return ticket (they told me that get fined by the airport for letting people arrive without return tickets)- I had to quickly buy one at the airport in Toronto, but returned it easily over the phone a few days later. They didnt even ask me about my ticket at the airport in Lima. Anyways, Im here in Lima enjoying the sun and some great hospitality from the family Im staying with.

It's usually the airlines who are wary of one way ticket. Like NatureGirl says, Peruvian immigration is a breeze. They are used to people coming in on one way tickets and leaving overland (or forgetting to leave and working under the table!)

Check with the airline you are flying with - the North American ones are the most cautious. They do get fined if you are refused entry, but that rarely happens in Peru.
