"LaCasa Terraza" is a great community house in the Chapinero Alto area of Bogota. I'm looking to rent rooms to some great people looking for longer stays of 2 months or more for all the right reasons; individuals teaching, working for NGO's, environmental causes, or along those lines, folks that enjoy community, enjoy bi-lingual and a multi cultural atmosphere, cooking, hanging out and bbqs, intelligent conversation, sport pick-up games and just going out.
At present (5 may) I've got 1 room that will come available May 5th and another May 15th. If capable come by and see or send an email if abroad! (if you come across this post at some much later date send an email anyway and we'll let you know what we have available)
Looking for folks that and work and play hard!

Rent:
Rent depends upon duration of stay and size of room chosen. You can expect between 550,000-600,000 per month depending upon length of stay (roughly $USD 250-300 per month) --in the market with local housing prices. Far cheaper than bogotacolombialodging.com or welovebogota. Discounts are available for longer stays.
The Immediate Neighborhood:
1 block away is the local corner grocery store "San Francisco," and next door are the laundromat and a seamstress shop. Also within 1 block is the local basketball/microfootball court.
Within 4 blocks away there are (these are just my favorites):
1. a PHENOMENAL Espana sandwich shop, a little hole in the wall run by a grandmotherly woman named Indaly;
2. a resturaunt called "Mini-Mal" with exquisite foods from many cultures such as Japanese Blowfish as well as Native Colombian recipies
3. a bar called "el treffen" with not only a drinks menu but also a games menu (scrabble, poker, uno, etc etc).
4. Bodytech gym--bodytech is a great gym although spendy for some. Managers gym is a cheaper alternative close by, and Wonder Gym is better still but a bit farther away
5. 2 Really nice Yoga studios
6. 2 small neighborhood markets (3-5 houses down each) and 1 large 24 hr Carulla Supermarket
7. Three vegetarian restaurants, and La Esquina Vegetariana has a GREAT bread store and does deliveries.
The Larger Neighborhood:
The house is off calle 57 above and away from the noise of carrera 7 but within a few minutes walk to this central artery of transport.
Chapinero Alto is just south of Andino, the Embassy district, and Zona Rosa (nightlife), and just North of Candelaria and the historic district bars and hostels. Its right smack dab in the middle--a great location--and a 5 minute busride/20 minute walk to either main zone of employment (given good traffic). For longer travels in the city, from the house it is an 8 minute walk to the city's much revered Transmilenio Bus System.
Interested? Questions? Send an email and introduce yourself, why you're here in Bogota, your funky passions, if you've lived in a communal house before, or whatever information you want to include. We'll send you some info about the folks we've got here!
