Hello,

I was wondering if I anyone could shed some light on my chances of getting a job in Qatar. I came to Qatar about two years ago and I remember seeing an Ad in an English newspaper for English teachers. I was wondering what my options might be like. I have a BA in Sociology. 3 years of teaching in Japan at schools and company classes.

Thanks

The good jobs require a related MA... and the not-as-good at the very least a CELTA.

Try the Gulag at QP. Not a bad place to work, especially without an MA,

The Aeronautical College is another acceptable place. Salaries are low but management is pleasant. Some gulagers left to go there and vice versa.

Gulagers make more money, though.

The gulag at QP = gulag at Qatar Petroleum? Are women allowed to teach there?

I recall seeing mention of the gulag on the Qatar forum some months ago...

The place was already called the Gulag when I arrived here years ago. Probably a leftover from the Cold War times. No idea. Almost everybody says it was called the Gulag when they got here. Even Malachy called it the Gulag (hey, maybe he was the one who named it??? No idea, really.)

It really isn't a bad place - if you know how to play the game, avoid the trouble-makers, keep peace with the management and students.

Griffiths is the main subcontracter so try out their website. Good luck.

They sure are. There are some female students but women teach the men too. They're quite popular, needless to say.
