I'm interested in finding a job in Cali and have been told that the market is quite good there. However, there don't seem to be too many vacancies online.. Does anyone have any contacts or know anything about the logistics of moving there first and then looking for work? Particularly at this time of year? I hold a CELTA, BA and MA |

I worked in Cali in 1993 at a school called "English Language Schools International". I don't know if it is still in business, but it was not a great place to work. The schedule was a split shift every week day and full time was considered 40 hours of classroom time! I knew this going in, but wasn't prepared for the burnout. Perhaps things have changed since then, but my understanding at the time was that this was typical for language schools in Columbia. Anyway, I quit after 6 months, mostly because the hours were so absurd. The students were wonderful though, and they went out of their way to entertain me on weekends and really made me feel welcomed and at home. |
