|
|
I will be taking my family to Bahrain for their KSA resident visas this week, and have been told you can no longer do the paperwork yourself, but need a visa agent. Does anyone have a contact for a good fast agent so I can get everything done quickly?
Also, where can I get their medicals done quickly?
I have the yellow slip (for the embassy) already.
Thanks for any advice. |

I would say make inquiries about the medicals at the American Mission Hospital.

For reasonably-inexpensive tests (70 to 100 BD), please make enquiries at Shifa Al Jazeera Hosp. (Ph.: 17288000 - Mrs. Rane).

From the possible sources for obtaining medical reports mentioned by Scot47, Mixteca Mike and lall which facility was the quickest? Regardless whether or not they were the cheapest.
Also, what were the best places for accommodation used while waiting for tests results? |

Although a bit late to answer Mixteca Mike's question, there is a visa agency called Diplomat that handles work visa processing for Saudia. |

From an email I sent to someone else after successfully getting family visas in Bahrain (for KSA)

Hi XXXXX,
Heres a bit of info about the visa process in Bahrain.
You MUST use a visa agent. They would not let me do the paperwork myself. The agent I used was Hilton Estyate and Public Relations Agency. I would not particularly recommend or reject this office, there were a couple of hiccups but they did the job fine. Tel 17514461, Fax 17514466, email [email protected]
If you choose them their offices are in Exhibition Ave, next to the water tower, which is easy to find. Its in front of some shopping mall whose name I cant remember, towards the north end of Exhibition Ave, if you have a map. Its on the second floor of a building with Bahrain Aluminium Kitchens or something similar on the ground floor, use the back entrance. It cost me BDN 46 for three resident visas for my family, including the embassy cost. Some other agent numbers I copied from the list on the embassy door are: 17297123, (Mob: 39457295); these next numbers I think are mobiles, 39878757, 39661404, 3640099.
You will need a medical, but ask the agent beforehand where to get it as it seems there are only two authorized medical centers. We went to Dr. Abdulla Kamal Clinic, Shaik Isa Avenue and it cost BDN 64. It may be different for the work visa. It took about half a day for the results, and the agent picked those up. But check with your agent before doing the medical.
Once you have all the papers, if the computer system is working at the embassy it could be all done in a day. But dont count on it. The taxi prices are killers in Manama, none of them use the meter and they all want way too much money.
We stayed at the Metropolitan Hotel, it was OK and for a single cost BDN25 per night. Its a 5 minutes walk from the Hilton Agency office, and there are plenty of places to eat around there. The telephone number is 553918375, I think.

The Metropolitan hotel was fine, but we did get two calls over 5-day period offering "company," one female and one male! The medical should only take a day for results, but have something to eat before you go, as a "sample" is required. |

Thanks Mixteca for the info.
I have been in contact with the visa agency I posted by the name of Diplomat. And they told me to go to the American Mission Hospital. When I called the hospital they said that I had to make an appt. a week in advance and that the results of the tests would take up to a week and cost 170BD!
There seems to be both a big discrepancy between Dr. Abdullaah's clinic and the American Hospital both in time and money. Would you mind posting the number for the clinic and I will call them, too. Because if the embassy accepted their medical reports, what's the difference?
It is way too expensive for me to have to stay in Bahrain in a hotel for over a week just to wait for medical results, so any short cuts in the process are greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the hotel tip also, but I think I'll skip any establishment that allows advertising for escort services! |

2BD - 3BD is the most you should pay for a Taxi anywhere in Bahrain. When going home from Seef mall they alawys quoted 10BD, you Just had to spend 20 mins beating them down to 2BD.
The Taxi drivers are Buggers! American's used to get Turned over every night. JJ's and BJ's are next to each other, but the entrance to BJ's is around the corner. They used to fall out of JJ's straight into the Taxi rank and ask where BJ's was.....
Used to Drive them up the Road around the roundabout and back to the entrance of BJ's and charge them 10BD for the pleasure!
Would have taken 15 seconds to walk it! LoL |

The trick with taxis in Bahrain is to get the commercial pick-ups. The other guys are F******** PIRATES.
Or better - stay in Saudi. |

After the encouragemenet of the Central Committee of the 500 Club I have been exploring the bus system in Bahrain. It works but is best avoided in the rush hour. Tickets 150/200 Fils. |
