|
|
I was just wondering what the best sites for finding work are, or if anyone knows of any jobs in Koriyama. I can't go through the Aeon route as I've done that one, GEOS is only hiring from within Japan etc. I'm looking into JES at the moment as they have a school in Koriyama but I don't know how easily I would be able to get placed there. I'm looking into Koriyama as I have a friend living there right now, I've been there before, and I used to live in Fukushima-shi. Any sites or info on finding work in a specific city would be greatly appreciated. As for my qualifications, I'm bottom of the barrel. I have an HBA, some experience TAing in a high school class and a short experience with Aeon. That is about it, so I know that all I really qualifiy for is the Eikaiwa scene or as an ALT, so I'm really asking if anyone knows any ways to find these type of jobs in a specific city.
Thanks |

- What's an HBA?
- What does "a short experience with AEON" mean?
- Do you have a degree - i.e. will a company be able to sponsor you (if you don't already have a valid visa)?
- Have you looked at ohayo-sensei and the other usual suspects (gaijinpot, the local international assiciation website,etc...)?

1) a HBA is an Honours Bachelor of Arts. It's a four year degree with specialist seminars and you have to achieve and maintain a certain average to stay in a HBA program.
2) I worked with Aeon for 2 months but had to return home because of a family emergency. I ultimately resigned because I could not give a definite return date.
3) As with the explanation to number 1, yes I have a degree. And with Aeon I had a 3 year Specialist in Humanities Visa which is now invalid because I left without a re-entry permit.
4) I've checked forums but haven't looked at job postings. Thanks for the advice I'll give GP a look and check local websites. |

If you left without a re-entry permit, you didn't ultimately resign. No feigning ignorance of re-entry permits, please.
Knocking one of the major eikaiwa companies off the list of ones you can work for doesn't help your chances.
I made a similar mistake to the one you did my first time living here and got back through Interac. Try them, but don't expect exact placement. |

I resigned before I left Japan (because I didn't have a return date) and that is why I didn't get a re-entry permit. When I left I never thought about going back, it has only been recently that I've really missed being in Japan and have thought about heading back.
I've been looking into Interac, thanks for the tip |

I see. In the UK, we write it BA (Hons), although it's a little different in Scotland. Anyway, it explains why I didn't know what you were talking about! |

no problem, I don't think the US has HBA diplomas either so the wording might just be a Canadian thing |
