hey you who work for any sort of uni in the ksa (state (or i should rather say non-private) or private). two specific questions, if i may:
(1) how many weeks paid holiday do you normally get per annum (including all, ie religious breaks, summer, etc, ALL)?
(2) do you get paid for the whole 12 month period at a standard flat rate, no matter if holiday or work?
would be great if you could state the uni, but if not, im still very interested in the info
thanks and happy holidays to all |

Contractually we get 60 days holidays. In practice it is more. Salary is paid for the holiday periods. |

Well, according to Article 32 (for non-Saudi staff regulations for state university), the anual holiday are as follow:
60 days for faculty (Prof, ass/assot Prof, lecturers, etc)
45 days for others (teachers, etc)
In addition, you get the religious holidays (the two Eids + weekend).

You get full monthly salary for your holiday. |

For me, last year (06-07), it ended up being:
2 weeks ramadan/eid
2 weeks hajj/eid
2 weeks end of term 1
1 week midterm (during term 2)
12 weeks summer
total = 19 weeks = 4.5 months
This year that just ended (07-0, the summer holidays were longer:
2 weeks ramadan/eid
2 weeks hajj/eid
2 weeks end of term 1
1 week midterm (during term 2)
16 weeks summer
total = 23 weeks = almost 5.5 months
I taught a summer term of 5 weeks though, but I didn't have to. But it meant extra money, on top of the regular salary!
And yes, we are paid for all the holidays. |
