Coming through Istanbul the other day I noticed that US citizens now have to pay US$100 for a visa on arrival. That seems a bit steep, considering that it is ten Euros or ten pounds sterling for other nationalities.

It's reciprocal -- the U.S. charges Turks $100 to visit, so it seems fair to me, though I remember when we didn't need a visa at all.

It's been that way for more than a year now. And yes, as gelin said, it's reciprocal. Maybe if the U.S. lowers it's visa fee, the Turks will too.
