If you accept a contract on the left coast of KSA, do get that flu shot next year before Hajj. The hacking subsided for about a week, then another bug infilitrated me down to the marrow.

Hajj brings different bugs every year. Typically it is given the name "Hajj Flu" but i would not be so sure that you can trust in any vaccine.

Jeddah is an amazing place in Hajj time as 2 million pilgrims from all over pass through the place.

I miss Jeddah- definitrely the liveliest place in Saudi Arabia.

This year, I'm sure the avian influenza arrived in Saudi Arabia from Indonesia. This overshadowed the usual outbreaks of Hepatitis B from Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt.

I wonder if the full face veil Hijab for women is there to not only to protect them from the sun, to protect their modesty but also to protect them from airborne disease much the way far East Asians wear surgical masks in large crowds of pedestrian traffic.

(hack, hack)

Jeddah at the time of the Haj is a vibrant and exciting place. In fact at any time of the year, it wins hands down over any other location in the Kingdom.

I regret that I had to move away and work in the more boring location of Eastern Province. Dhahran-Khobar-Dammam is not my cup of shai.
