I have tried every website, every search engine, and everything possible listed in this forum on top of advice from some friends from India. I have received not one reply. Does anyone know the secret to finding a job in India (preferably Delhi)?

I keep meaning to flick through some of my laptop files for old copies of adverts I have. Best I can say now is British Council, Delhi. There are also one or two call centres in Delhi, but more in Bangalore (think it was "Spectrum"). Microsoft are there too. Now and again ads come up on TEFL.com.

If you go down some of these threads, you'll find a few company names you can then search for - but I also cannot see anyone advertising right now.

It's generally not that easy to TEFL in India, possibly because local teachers are good enough, cheaper, and less trouble.

Why bother with teaching? The KPO firms hire native-speaking editors. Check out Evaluserve, WNS, etc... One such company contacted me through Monster.com, but I was not interested in living in India.

Does one need specialized knowledge to work at one of these KPO's in India, or would a B.A. in any field and excellent written/verbal English skills qualify?

I left India in May of 2009, and from what I hear these days is that the jobs are getting fewer and farther in between as the global economy issues are taking a toll on the Indian economy as well... It is a great experience if you can get it - still miss living there!

BTW - Spectrum is the company that hires the staff for Microsoft. (Language Specialists)

The secret, for me, is to go the country I want to teach in. I use the internet to do the preliminary search, but have found that actually visiting schools and NGO/not for profit organizations in person works great. This is how I found work in Mexico for three years. I recently moved to India and used the same approach. After three weeks of knocking on doors, I was offered a job teaching conversational English classes at a college. Best of luck in Delhi.
