Hi

Bit of background before the question:

5 years Tefl experience overseas and in UK, BA but not in English, almost finished writing a Tefl book andwill try to get it published, speak another language.

So, my wife and I would like to try our luck in Bahrain.

We'll try to live the monk life, rarely venturing out of our appartment, if only to go to a restaurant or possible sporting activity.

Aim is to save 12,000/$16,500 in the course of a year.

Is this feasible?

Many thanks.

2 questions - are both you and your wife hoping to work (as teachers??) and do you have CELTA/Trinity TESOL??? If so then your best bet would probably be the British Council (presuming you're from the UK). It's unlikely you'd get a Uni job without further qualifiactions.

Bahrain can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be - eating out is very tempting as there are so many good restaurants.
Housing is expensive but hopefully you'll get it provided or have an allowance - unfortunately it doesn't go very far these days though.

If you're both working you could probably save 12,000 (unlikely if you're depending on one salary).

Hope this helps

Not many jobs in Bahrain. BC is one possibility. Not sure how many native speaker EFLers are currently woirking at colleges and unis in Bahrain. Few I think.

More jobe on this side of the Causeway.
