|
|
I have just recently completed the TESOL certificate in Vietnam. I've done a bit of teaching in Vietnam and will soon return to Sydney where I live and am currently a full time student. I am interested in getting part time teaching work in Sydney if I can and would like to know the recognition my TESOL has in Australia for teaching jobs?
Some people in Asia suggest CELTA is must better than TESOL, however in Asia there isn't much difference in terms of your abililty to get jobs. However I suspect it might make more of a difference in a developed nation with a developed education system like Australia. I am half way through a 4 year degree, will the absence of a degree by seriously problematic in getting work. Thanks in advance and I appreciate all responses. |

How long was your TESOL course? I think if it is over 100 hours and has an observed practise component you'll be ok.
You can get better money if you've done over 800 hours of teaching too.
Check the NEAS website for more information.

Yes it was the 4 week TESOL with 100 hours, teaching practice and observed teaching practice. I also have experience now teaching in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. |
