Now, now, Spiral - I'm sure you're familiar with the UK vernacular.Smile

In answer to both your posts, I can't really comment on the men: whether there are more married chancers around than the UK I couldn't really say.

As for housing in Rome: it's expensive, particularly short-term lets, and deposits can be 2/3 months. Based on the standard of your writing you may have difficulty getting a job. I suggest any CVs or cover letters are checked for mistakes before you send them - preferably by someone else.

Yes, but have lived in Europe for 15+ years now. In fact, have not been to the States in more than 2 years - need to go visit the parents.

Just that your slang is tough for me to follow, though I've worked with UK colleagues for many years - that's why I was questioning your 1st. lang Smile

As you no doubt learnt on your teaching course you have to grade your language to the audience. It's something I sometimes struggle with as I assume that vocabulary I know, another UK adult will also know. So best not use slang on an internet board when you don't know who you're talking to.

Also using slang is a habit that once you get into it may be hard to get out of, English degree or not. So, although we all make spelling mistakes (I have particular words I always seem to get wrong even though I'm aware of them) it sort of grates on a teachers' forum; and luckily some of the more acerbic posters haven't been along yet!

It's not great in Italy at the moment. I'm semi-retired, teach p/t in local primary schools and have to be a bit careful on the money front. Accommodation is expensive, particularly in places like Rome, where you are also competing with trust-fund kids and those bloomin' people with other money such as a pension... although I _never_ undercut market rates.

Anyway, just in case any employer is looking in, I'd cut the slang. F.R.Leavis would not be impressed.Smile
