Hi there,
The best options are the international schools. They pay a decent salary, certainly enough to live comfortably and save a little. Now probably isn't the best time to apply though as many places are cutting budgets and downsizing due to the economic situation, plus it's the middle of the academic year. Perhaps look at applying in June-July for a September start. Obviously you won't be teaching adults either.
Bucharest still has very few language schools; Fides, Prosper, Avalon, IH, Lexis, Echo. They normally employ local teachers and those which would consider employing a native speaker would be paying little more than a local wage.
If you are really set on Romania you could set up your own company (a SRL) or register as a freelancer (PFA). This would allow you to chase up in-company work and issue invoices. There seems to be quite a lot of cash privates available too at the moment (people preparing for moves, sprucing up CVs, honing old skills, etc.).
Most of the work is in Bucharest, but it might be possible to build up enough privates to live on in other major towns.
Best,
Mike |
