I have been recently offered a job at Colegio Saint John in La Romana teaching ESL. Anyone familiar with this school? Pros or cons. I was offered spot sight unseen.
Appreciate any assistance! Thank you, Lilly Taylor |

About a month ago the school sent me a detail email telling me all that they offer teachers and asking me how I felt about what they were offering. I havent heard from them since. So maybe they picked someone else. What I will say is if its in the DR you cant go wrong!!! |

Really? Would you mind telling why you like it? I don't know anything about DR except a lot of ballplayers seem to come from there. |

Well first of all, its an island in the caribbean. Its always sunny and warm with blue skies. You have the beach everywhere. The people are warm and beautiful looking. Its just a hot place with hot people. Even they way they speak Spanish is very intense. Like I said, you cant go wrong!!!!! |

I spent a week in DR once and found it to be a very nice country with friendly people. And the beaches are great.
Santo Domingo has a vibrant nightlife and a casino too.
You get around by Moto Conchos...motorbike taxis.
I might leave vietnam and go there next. |

I, too, have been looking to go to the DR. I'm available right away and can be on a plane tomorrow if I need to be. It's been my desire to go there for a while now. I absolutely love everything about the country - the culture is beautiful, and the people are incredibly friendly.
I think I may have started my job search late though, because I've been having a really hard time getting in contact with schools (I've tried calling) and hearing back via email doesn't seem to be going very well either. I know school is out for the summer right now, so that may have something to do with it.
If anyone may know of any specific school that is still looking, or someone in particular that I should contact, any help would be much appreciated. |
