I am an American EFL teacher with a B.S. Degree and a TESOL certificate.I am in Bucharest at the moment. Is there any chance of finding work here teaching or otherwise? I interviewed with a company and they said I had to have the work permit. EU passport holders only..Are the schools also like this? I might have to go back to Turkey for the summer or head to the Ukraine. I don't know what to do funds are limited and there seems to be no jobs in sight anywhere till September.

I am staying a Girls house. Been here about 5 days. She just informed me that she dumped her boyfriend. I met her while hitch hiking out of Constniza.Actually she picked me up of the side of the road and gave me a ride back to Bucharest.

She's most probably just keeping her options open. No need to be paranoid, but I've lost count of the times I've heard that one, so just keep your wits about you.

Regarding teaching, you might find something if you approach some of the schools which particularly focus on American style learning or claim to be American High Schools. On the whole, language schools don't hire many native speakers, or if they do it's on a cash and/or pro-rata basis. Schools which want to hire someone legally will, of course, want you to have a work permit. Few will go to the hassle of getting one for you when they have plenty of EU citizens looking for positions. If they need someone quickly, and as you're in the country, you might get lucky even at some of the British schools.

You might be able to find some private lessons for cash if you go on the offensive with the adverts (hit all the free classified sites) but it would still take you a while to get things up to a liveable income.

If you haven't already tried contacting them, give some of these places a call:

Best of luck,
