I'm a white guy from the USA. I have a bachelor's degree in English, a TESOL cert, and four years' experience in TESOL. What are my chances of landing a job at a German university or college? |

I'm in the Netherlands, but our university partners with several in Germany, so I have a clue or two about the university hiring scene there.
In my experience, uni gigs generally require related MA (TESL/TEFL, Applied Linguistics), experience, and decent fluency in German. Further, openings are relatively rare, and usually go to people with contacts in the region.
You might get lucky, but from what you've told us, your qualifications wouldn't put you near the top of the heap.
I'm currently interviewing applicants for positions at the uni where I work. We have lots of very strong ones coming in - the job market is strongly in favor of the unis just now. |

Thanks, Spiral. By the sound of it, I should forego getting a job at the moment and enroll in an MA program. |
