If anyone has any ideas of how to find work in London that pays more than 11ph, and that doesn't involve refugees, then please let me know!

Sorry I can't help Leeroy - here on the South coast I am equally looking for work as 2 hours a week at 20 quid an hour is not quite enough to live on!

Why I posted was to ask what your experiences of refugees were to result in your comment. Last year I had quite a number in mixed EFL/ESOL classes at various intermediate levels and found them enjoyable to teach, apart from the odd unpleasant bumptious individual that you might get anywhere. Whether a lower level or purely refugee class might be more difficult I wouldn't like to hazard a guess. The powers that be at the college I was working at now seem to think that the EFL and ESOL students should be kept separate which to me seems a bit pointless at intermediate level. Now there's another thread...

I remember many moons ago Watford College was advertising work at 50 quid for a 3 hour lesson. That was 3 hours of contact time mind you. Given the prep time, I fully expect that pay rate to drop below basic secretarial work.
