I've long been intrigued by this city. I really wanted to get a job there last April, but there seems to be some kind of mysterious force that keeps any info besides basic tourist stuff off the internet. I've searched popular job websites and done a lot of internet searches and just can't seem to find much about it. Has anyone worked, lived, or even just traveled to Kanazawa? What did you think of it? Seems like it could be a really cool place that just gets overlooked because it's not Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, etc . . .

Been there three times, I think. It's really nice. If I had to live outside Nagano it would get my vote of all the places I've been to in Japan.

Has a bit of history, some nice modern touches, and is big enough that there seems to be stuff going on at night. Doesn't have the mountains that Nagano has, but it has the coast and its not too far from Toyama Pref where you can ski/hike.

I think it's biggest problem is that its off the beaten track. Thanks to the mountains you have to do a big circuit to get to Tokyo. I think its easier to get down to Osaka though.

I used to work in Kanazawa.I didn't live there but drove from Toyama instead.
It's on the Sea of Japan so the weather is not the best.Lots of cloudy days with no sunshine and it always seemed to be raining or snowing.
Good seafood though but I wouldn't want to live there.......

I lived in Toyama city.I found the people there to be quite friendly. In fact the people in Kanazawa and Fukui were also friendly but I just didn't like living there.
Too dark and wet for me..........
