FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT
13TH National Conference, May 15 – 16 2004
Venue: Varna, Technical University

BETA-Iatefl is pleased to welcome you to the national annual ELT event of 2004 on May 15 and 16 in Blagoevgrad.

The forum is co-run by BETA-Iatefl, the British Council Bulgaria, the Technical University in Varna and English Books Centre, official representative of MacMillan and Cambridge for Bulgaria.

Traditionally there is no restricting theme for the Conference. A broad range of topics will be covered including Teacher Training, Teacher Development, Mentoring, Teaching Young Learners, ESP, Testing, Teaching Literature, English Across Curriculum, Cultural Studies and many others. The first day of the Conference will be booked for SIGs’ presentations.

The Conference opens May 15th Saturday at 10.00 and finishes 16th Sunday 16.00. It will contain plenaries, presentations, workshops and discussions. A major ELT Book Exhibition will accompany the conference – the latest titles will be available for inspection or purchase at special conference prices throughout the event.

As usual well-known practitioners in the field of ELT are invited as plenary-note speakers among whom are David Hill (UK), Gwyneth Fox (UK) and Enyedi Agnes (Hungary).

Conference fees, application and speaker proposal forms as well as information about accommodation facilities will be available by end of February on the following addresses: http://www.beta-iatefl.hit.bg and http://www.britishcouncil.org/bulgaria/infoexch/

Direct contacts:
Violeta Karstateva Ellie Boyadzhieva
Conference Secretary President BETA
vkarastateva@yahoo.com alek@bcci.bg

Looking forward to seeing you in Varna,

Dr. Ellie Boyadzhieva
President BETA-Iatefl

Well some people do speak Bulgarian you know ! 8 million or so in fact. More if you count Macedonian as a variety of Bulgarian which of course the powers-that-be in Skopje deny vigorously.

I think at the conference most of the business and all of the presentations will be in English.
