Hi,
Has anyone lived in Al Khafji before? I was just offered a job there and was wondering about how one survives there, and if it is worth going. I need to save money to pay off student loans, and maybe Al Khafji is a good place to learn Arabic. I am Muslim and single, and have lived in Riyadh before, so I know what Saudi is like.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Also, what kind of internet connection exists in Al Khafji. Can I get a 1/2 meg download speed like in Riyadh? Back when I lived there I had a DSL connection, but I'm not sure I could live in Al Khafji if I can't surf the web.
Thanks,
Mike |

Also, is there a decent gym in Al Khafji? Working out is a must! |

What company has recruited you to work in Khafji? That will make all the difference in the answers you receive. |

Khafji's Future
the Saudi government with the cooperation with Khafji Joint Operations is having huge projects in Khafji to list it as one of the major cities in Saudi Arabia. According to the Saudi government's view, Khafji is to be the headquarter of a new natural gas company. One of the government's projects there is to make the city as a national tourist destination, for the beautiful virgin beaches it has on the Persian Gulf during summers, and the beautiful weather and desert camps in winters.
There is no tourism in Saudi Arabia. The only people in this country are from Kuwait and Bahrain unless employed here or are religious pilgrims. Those people MUST be Muslims since no tourist or visitor visas are issued. Ther is no tourism in Saudi Arabia. What a joke! |

What is your ethnic group? The answer to that question will affect how you are treated in Khafji. |

IF you get someone to sponsor your internet via the phone company you may, (or may not) ever get DSL of some indeterminate speed. |

If you go to Khafji and cannot get DSL you can buy a USB modem that will work in most places. You also have to get SIM card & pay monthly for the amount of service you use. |
