heh heh, Spiral is the one who speaks Dutch or Flemish. I only half remember the little smattering I ever picked up. However, you are quite right. Shouldn't expect any better. Must lower my expectations, but not my level of literacy.

Still, we can all agree on the women at least!

In the dull, dreary world of EFL one must always search for the light. That light could well be the sparkling eyes of a Dutch beauty.... Wink

They are truly delightful - that I recall with crystal clear vision. Like porcelain dolls they were. And a charming accent to match. But perhaps the glory of the female Slav just eclipses them? I doubt we will have much consensus amongst the teachers on an issue such as this, but at least we don't need to expect to employ reasoned disputation. But you are right, again, about the light that can be found, no matter the shape of the eye from where it gleams. The eternal female ever leads us on...

Quoted For Truth...

Sadly I will likely be heading for the Gulf States...soon I will forget that females exist as they fade into memory...forever out of reach...

The Gulf. I got one word for you: nurses. Actually I've got another phrase to match: equally frustrated. Very Happy

Lots of expats. British ones are the ones I know of, though I guess others, non-Arabs, must be there too. Any port in a storm at any rate. Might be light in their eyes like a lighthouse beacon after six months out there. Twisted Evil

Chin up old bean - stiff upper lip and all that. There may even be a few Dutch or Russian medical trainees.

Nurses in the M.E. - South African, Irish, Brits, Canadians, Philipinas etc etc

Don't forget the (mostly single status) female teachers in all those International schools from Jeddah to Doha and all points North and South of those two places.

Life on a compound can be interesting for singles so don't despair too much.
