i am currently working on my education degree (elementary school) and would like to work overseas next year. i have been looking through the forums and i know this is an esl site, but i was wondering if anyone could give me some info about international schools in the ME. what are my chances of finding a job, being a new teacher? salaries?? what areas are good to go to?? any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I am afraid that I don't have any particular knowledge to help you since I was always teaching at university level. But, I do know that every year in the US (February or March?) there is a big hiring fair/convention for the international schools. There are good schools all over the Middle East and some of them may be interviewing there.

Do some web searching and see what you can find. If you could attend this, it would give you a chance to network and talk to people who have taught around the world and even maybe meet some of the recruiters.

I used the annual TESOL conference held every year in the US for this very thing when I was interested in teaching English overseas. And it is the perfect start in looking at your possibilities.

I think with no experience your chances are poor. Get two or three years under your belt and then try.

thanks for your help guys =) from what i have heard hear and elsewhere, i won't get a good job in the me. i am thinking about china instead, so maybe i should go check out the postings on the china forum....thanks again, you've been more than helpful!
