Hi!
I've been reading some things on different forums about teaching English in Brazil. I'm moving to Recife in less than three weeks and am a little worried at the posts I read about the 'Immigration cops' cracking down on English schools and the illegal teachers in Recife. My friend is near Sao Paulo and had no trouble getting a job there. She was never asked for a visa of any type and is getting paid cash in hand. I was wondering if maybe Recife is different because it's smaller or it is the same as every country: there have been cases where illegal workers have been caught so you just need to be aware of what you are getting yourself into.
Also, when giving private lessons, how much should one charge (in Reais)?
I have all the qualifications and experience necessary to teach English, but getting a visa for Brazil is difficult (as we know). So I just want to be more aware of what I need to look out for, say, do, etc... when going about finding an English teaching job in Recife without a prospect of a visa. Thank you for your help! |
