Hi guys
Like so many of you before, I'm interested in a career in TEFL/TESOL but I am thoroughly confused about the best way to get into it and was hoping for some advice.
I want to do things properly and know I need to do a Cambridge CELTA or Trinity approved course. I'm interested in doing this in Sydney as I'd love to visit friends in Oz and live there for a year. I'm worried that I won't be able to get a job though, even with a degree and the right teaching qualification. Having read other posts on here it seems that a lot of places in Australia require you to have at least a year of teaching experience - is this true?
If there's no hope of me getting a job in Oz straight after the course then I am also considering somewhere in South East Asia, or New Zealand. I'm guessing that NZ would have similar restrictions to OZ? Also, do you recommend training in the country you are going to look for work in, or does it not matter so much?
All help is gratefully received!
Thanks

if you go to asia you just need a BA. i recommend you do the celta if you want to work in australia or new zealand. however, im not sure if they still require a BA with that. check out this website, they control ESL teaching requirements/pay scales etc in oz.
