I have just completed my CELTA at the the Teaching House New York school. I am very interested in teaching in Chile, or possibly somewhere in South America. I have no experience, as I just completed the program. I understand that the semester in Chile starts in March, so I am entertaining the idea of leaving for Santiago in mid/late february. I do have a "pass b", but I have no idea if this distinction is really all that useful as the people at Teaching House didn't really talk about it. Has anyone been in the same boat recently in Chile? If I can't find work, are there other countries nearby that people would recommend? Does anyone have some reputable schools they might suggest to try first?

I personally have no idea what a "pass b" is, its never come up talking to anybody or applying for jobs...so i'm assuming that the distinction cannot be all that important..but you never know.

To find reputable schools, check around these forums first in old posts...a lot of the bigger schools have been touched on, also try to get ahold of other teachers in Santiago..they'll know the scoop a lot better and be able to guide you.

I would think your luck would be better sticking around Santiago to keep seeking better job opportunities than to up and move to another country just because you don't find something right away.

I think you should be fine with the CELTA and lacking experience should not be a huge deal as I think most teachers arrive here without experience.
