When I was in Peru (2007-early 2008), there were newspaper articles, official government-made videos, and lots of discussion about a forthcoming intraurban high-speed bus system, linking Comas to Chorrillos, with stations and stops in between.

I saw the trenches for the tracks being dug up while I was there, in front of the Palacio de Justicia...I'm just curious, two years later, is it operational yet? Soon to be?

Of course I'd love to see Lima have a subway a la B.A. and Santiago but this seemed like a step in the right direction.

Ha ha, that's funny Smile They're building something called the Metropolitano, which basically goes from COmas to Chorillos. There's ONE line, more or less running along the highway. Wouldn't help me at all, even if I was to stay in Peru (which I'm not, leaving in 30 days! yea!)

It's supposed to finish May 2010.

They're also working on the Elevated train that they started 25 years ago. Supposedly one of the six lines is supposed to be finished in 18 months, that's the line. There's no mention of actually buying the trains to go on the lines. NOt kidding, this is how Peru works.

Subway? Rolling Eyes I highly doubt it. Even if they WERE organised enough to do it, they'd say that they couldn't due to the earthquakes.
