Any suggestions regarding finding work as an UN-paid volunteer improving the conversational English of Filipinos? While most learn the rudiments of the language in school, fear of laughter prevents them from actually speaking the language so, as with anything, lack of use = loss of skill. As a "tourist" I cannot be paid, so .... your ideas will be much appreciated. I presently (happily) live in a condo in Cebu, RP. Mike Harris |

Nope... The world evolves around money. Sounds like your loaded or have some serious coin in the bank? if so good...keep staying happy!
I would of volunteered way back when I was a 19 yrs old and no idea what supporting one self was.
The good ol' USA could finacially collapse in the next 15yrs and I myself wouldn't volunteer unless its gathering firewood or food for myself if it comes to that. Part-time volunteer work to spice up your resume after you make a days wages or have spent all day looking for a job are all good!!
U might try teaching online if you can get away with it...or just contacting the local US embassy and asking them if they can lead you to any volunteer work. |

Except for the college/educated crowd, "Talking Dollars" (English) is is considered "snobbish" unless they actually have a need to speak it (as in have a "Kano-in-law" / BF.
Other than that, hit the coffee bar at Ayala or SM and chat up the staff. They can use the practice.
Oh, and BTW, even unpaid (formalized) volunteer work is a violation of your "tourist visa".
