The Oxford English Dictionary’s 2012 word of the year is “omnishambles”.
Although omnishambles is still most commonly used in political contexts, usage has evolved rapidly in other contexts to describe any debacle or poorly managed situation. Omnishambles, derived from omni- (‘all’) and shambles (‘a state of total disorder’), has given rise to its own derivative, omnishambolic, indicating that potentially this is a word with staying power. |

| So are you saying/implying that "omnishambles" applies to Nazarbayev University in Astana? |

A quick update on the TIN issue from 31 Dec '11-1 Jan '12 as previously discussed:
The change went into effect on '12-'13. Even with a year advance warning, working for the government, paying a good 10,000 KZT out-of-pocket for their F' up, & other random associated BS, they still managed to F' it up. I had no access to cash upon arrival and "paid" for the gypsie cab back home with every last piece of shrapnail in my travel wallet & a couple of bottles Jack Daniels intended as bribes for the very people who had F'ed up. In the end, I guess the outright horror & humiliation shown through their faces when they learned that their bribes had, literally, been pissed down the drain was worth it... |
