Sorry, me again!
I was just wondering whether there are any LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) people living in Rome from America or the UK? I'm looking to live there for a while whilst teaching, and it would be great to get together with some people for a few drinks or dinner one evening!
Thanks,
W |

Hey Will,
Unfortunately I dont have any answers for you, but am instead in the exact same situation. I'm not sure whether I should be expecting a response from schools over the internet at all. I posted my situation in a post awhile ago but nobody responded.
Any advice would be appreciated from my end as well....
thanks again in advance
and good luck W!

Hi Amanda,
Sorry for late reply - I got back to Rome on Tuesday, after waiting for the volcanic ash to settle, post Easter.
The advice I've had from people who did the CELTA course with me, and who have remained in Rome since we passed the course in March, is that you really need to actually be here and travel around the capital handing in copies of your CV and making enquiries.
Schools are less busy at the moment as they head into the Summer quiet season but there are plenty of language and business institutes desperate for teachers. The rate of pay can be quite low but many people I know have bartered on this and have had it raised.
I've yet to sort out accommodation so I'm still concentrating on that at the moment but when I have a solid base, I have a list of schools to visit, an advert for teaching and proof-reading I've drawn up and a few private students recommended by other teachers. But I agree with my fellow CELTAs, you do need to be here to get responses immediately.
Hope that helps!
