A little over 10 years ago, I was convicted of carrying a concealed firearm w/o a license (concealed meaning it was in my car and not in plain sight). I am having the record expunged, which in California means a withdraw of a guilty plea and a dismissal of the charges. This allows me to legally answer NO to the question "Have you ever been convicted of a crime?" but with some research, one may find it annotated that my charges were dropped after my probation was completed.

I should have no trouble getting a signed afidavit stating that I have never been convicted of a crime, because technically under the California statute, I haven't after the record is sealed.

Does this sound like a problem to anyone? Is there any catch in Czech Law that I should be aware of? From what I've read, Czech's are quite a bit more gun friendly that California. I don't know. Thanks.

no specific experience, would definitely be worth double-checking, but it sounds like it'd be no problem at all

In the past, all you needed was a document from the state officials in the state you last lived in (California, I guess, in your case) saying that you have committed no crime.
I guess it's probably still the same.

If the record's sealed, I guess you can get this. Might be worth doing it in advance - it's not a rare request, by the way - and then you'll know what it says.

The Czech Rep's not likely to go into any more detail on this, so long as your generic letter is clean.
